U12’s
A tough contest this week, going down to Boga. Awards went to Jemma Twentyman for her excellent defending and Anique Ward for making great space in the mid court.
U14’s
The 14s game was a beautiful one to watch. Great defensive pressure all over the court resulted in many turn overs and straight to goal. Ava ran all day and fed Willow beautifully and Amaya stood tall in the last line of defence to take out the awards.
U16’s
Under 16’s fought out a tough game against Lake Boga. Shooting combination of Chloe Twentyman and Milla Hovenden was impressive with a few from down town swishing through the ring to get the team excited. Deja’ Stacey played a brilliant game in defence on a much taller opponent, intercepting the ball on many occasions to break the oppositions centre. The Tigers kept with their opponents for half the game and showed a “never give up” attitude. Thanks to Maya for sitting on the bench. All girls should be happy with how they plays. Still plenty to work on but some excellent passages of play was displayed.
U18’s
U18’s played a blinder against the top side to go down by only 3 goals. The free girls were amazing playing defence together. Eva worked hard to set up the play and feed into a strong and dominant Zoe in goals to earn herself a game day award and Dakota earnt herself an award for utilising angles in her leads and hitting the ring to feed the goalies. Overall it was a very I’m
B res
B Res girls were off to a slow start against Boga however by 4th quarter they were able to end the game with a win.
Best on; Bridgette Zucco and Gab Boars.
B Grade
An amazing game played by the B grade girls with a slow start off down by 5 then coming back in the last 3 quarters with a win! All players deserved best on! But in the end our two amazing goalies Toni Bolton and Chloe Burrel out did themselves with amazing team work in the goals!
A Res
A fantastic strong and physical game on the court with the girls coming away with a 2 goal win! Just what the A Res girls needed to keep the final dreams alive! Lots of great plays and effort to keep control of the ball! Best on court went to Brooke and Georgi, once again having a ripper game in defence!
A Grade
The A grade girls fought hard all day creating plenty of turnovers, unfortunately not capitalising on all opportunities, going down by 13 in the end. Best on went to Emily Siely, shooting well and lots of beautiful drives in the ring and Amy Cadd who had beautiful calmness and provided a senior voice in the defence end.
Football
U12’s
A fantastic game by our team, the magpies are a good team, and we were able to compete against them in the second half and won the last quarter.
The forward line worked hard, multiple leads and efforts as we have been working on at training – well done to Hunter with his first goal, Ever and Dakota who played their best games.
The midfield was exceptional, winning many clearances and positioning ourselves very well. Rory played his best game and Leo and Luca were excellent as well.
The backline is gelling well, and the standard to stay tight is brilliant, Ayarsy played his best game, and was supported well by the entire back 7 group.
U14.5’s
Another tough day at the office for our boys out at Lake Boga last week, we went in with less numbers than usual but once again we had great support with some under 12’s coming up to help out. We were a bit quiet on the pressure and motivation side of the game, and with some hard work and a few changes we are sure the team will bounce back and enjoy the run home. Keep working hard and together boys and things will eventually change.
Best Players: Shaun Kirby, Blake Mazza, Jett Bolton, Jack Keegan, Ollie Alderuccio & Billy Matthews
Colts
Well what an effort from our boys, they didn’t get the win but gee they took it up to the so called top of the ladder team. The boys responded to some words that were written about them brilliantly from the last game. Well done boys by standing your ground couldn’t be prouder of your effort. Remember walk tall, heads high and always look forward.
Best Players: Oscar Thornton, Jye Hogan, Charlie King, Otto Conlan, Shaun Kirby & Jamie Matthews
Reserves
Round 15 and we are hosted by Lake Boga and what a game. The Woora boys trailed all game and just couldn't get their heads in the game, 3rd quarter the boys received a big rev up from the coach which did the job. Pig doing a great job in the back line stopping Boga goals and TJ kicking 2 goals in the last 5 minutes giving the boys a 2 point win which left Tiger supporters on edge of their seats. Congrats also to Nugget on 100 senior games.
Best Players: Pig, Tj, Otto, Josh Hendy, Ayarsy, Jimmy
Seniors
The senior game was one that we were all looking forward to watching. At Boga, and against a side that is in the top 5, you would’ve thought that our boys might have been up for a challenge. This didn’t really prove to be as from the first bounce to the last our boys continued to put pressure on the ball and the ball carrier. Our onballers were dominant throughout the game and continued to play as you we have come to expect, but it was the performance of our young fellas that impressed those watching. Kingy, Rushy, Mitch, Henry, Matty G, Narz, Adam & Wrighty are all teenagers and showed maturity and skill all day. With these names our future looks bright and shows that development and growth is the way to go.
