MAGPIE NATION
What a weekend!!! Talk about a roller coaster of emotion starting of early on in our junior grades of footy and netball and reaching some dramatic and hilarious climaxes in the Senior football without giving a damn about the result. The reunion crowd ramped up some historical rivalry and we’re whole heartedly amused by the physicality of the game and outcomes of some of the contests. In the end was a taste of the past with a big crowd enjoying a competitive game.
In the Senior football the team played a great standard of footy but it was costly errors that let the opponents capitalise on these mistakes. Early first quarter misses on goal may have put some scoreboard pressure on but against the good sides you have to make the most of early opportunities.Best:D Dzufer, J Simpson, J Filo, T Johnston & N Holmes- Brown.
The Reserves put up a better showing than the previous encounter taking a handy lead only to be overrun. One to put in the memory bank and act on later in the coming weeks I’m sure. Best: B Tripcony, T Richardson, J Fosket, Dilba McCosh, C Fox & P Storer.
The Colts done an absolute demolition job and with six players missing. The best thing to come out of the game was the performances of the numerous boys coming up from the lower age group to play some really solid football. Best: K Everett, C Anderson, D Holmes, Headlock Taylor, B Palmer & B Parsons.
The U/14.5’s had we’re at their defensive best keeping the opponent scoreless in a comprehensive 60 point win. A great game to fine tune a few things.Best: W Holmes, W P Ye, K Fleming, M OReilly ,N Noble & L Heil.
U 12’s remaining on top of the imaginary ladder and get right back on track to run a clinic on the basics of Australian rules football .Best: T Colville, M Maduku, L Luna’s, R Quigley & J Summerhayes.
NETBALL
LB Netball held their ladies day this round and it saw all games moved forward 1hour. Thank you to Woorinen for allowing us to do this and celebrate our day this round.
We welcomed Jade and Greg from Inspire to the games this week to mentor and give our coaches and teams some valuable feedback and pointers leading into the last few exciting rounds of the home and away season.
Our 12s and 16s started out day off very well with 2 outstanding wins. Both teams have done extremely well this year with the early opening rounds. The 14s unfortunately didn’t get the win but seeing the progress from when they last played Woorinen was great to witness and credit to the girls and BJ for working towards this. The 18s had the most exciting match of the day and clinching a 3 goal win. As hard as it is been a coach and player in these close games we are starting to look at the finals prep and this is the perfect setting of pressure games. Jemma and Katie along with the team have done a fantastic job.

The snrs had a much tough day at the office. With only A grade taking away the only win. They continue to look to finish the home and away season with strong but also look at a few different combinations. A res had a tough and close tussle but also settling in a couple of newer players and only continue their connection. B grade unfortunately didn’t quite get the job done but are still looking like they have what it takes to go all the way. B res are the most improved team of the rounds with Sandra Ewart really starting to get the good out of this side. We only hope to see this continue for this team and new coach for the last few rounds.

It’s down to Kerang to face some big challenges across all grades of both football and netball. No matter what the results it’s important to be bigger than the game , shake your opponents hand after the game and show the sportsmanship that country people are known for and get upstairs afterwards for Kerangs hospitality.
