Over to the Mallee we ventured with a frosty start to the day, but the ending was superb with the added bonus of the sun shining all day.
Seniors
After a slow start to the game Kerang managed to hold a 9 point lead at the first break. The Blues really stamped their authority on the game in the second quarter, piling on 7 goals and keeping Mallee goalless for the half. Kerang’s efforts didn’t slow down in the second half kicking 12 goals to 3 after the break running out with an impressive 120 point win.
Michael Dalrymple, Joshua Hunter and Jesse Clarke leading the way in defence again keeping the opposition to 5 scoring shots for the game. Up the other end Michael Runciman and Troy Coates we’re offering plenty in attack. Whilst Martin Kelly, Samuel Heavyside, Bradlee Pay and Joshua Nitschke had plenty of the ball in the middle. A great all round performance from the senior boys.
We’re at home to the Magpies today, let’s get around it and cheer loud for the win!
Reserves
After suffering our first loss for the year last game, the boys had a point to prove! Coming out still a little undermanned (10 players out from our full strength team) the boys set the tone early and kept Lalbert scoreless until the 3rd quarter.
Laineo and Dooley dominated in the midfield/back line, giving us first use and great run and carry out of those zones. Sammy was also really solid across the back, giving us options all day.
With it being a tough contest in the middle, our boys rotating through there continued to work hard, apply pressure and deliver it forward, where Jonah and Graylz capitalised on their good work.
Another positive from the day was the 3 Colts boys Mako, Bohden and Brodie coming up to help us out. After playing a game before us, they all come out and gave us great contributions all day. Showing that the future of the club, under the guidance of the Colts coaches is coming along nicely.
Overall, the boys played a solid team game and it was good to be back on the winner’s board. Looking forward to the challenge of Boga next up.
Colts
Our colts took on Mallee Eagles at their own nest. Our boys took the early lead and held a comfortable margin up until half time. Mallee eagles come out full of run and grabbed a small lead by 3/4 time. After some inspiring voice from Trent, the boys finished off the last quarter full of run and came home with a comfortable win.
Good luck to all teams today, get around and support the boys and girls.
Go Blues!!
Under 14.5s
The mercy rule came into place in the third quarter as the boys continue playing great footy and bringing home the wins. Young Kai from the 12s kicked the first goal with Harvey booting three and Flynn and Jacko two each. Hugh Bremner was his usual best along with Flynn. Logan Gibson was strong and it was great to see all the boys playing great footy.
Under 12’s
What a game! Thank you all for turning up and turning on. Macey played a rippa in all positions. Sienna did awesome in goals. Laela as always played well. Tahlia was a fantastic wing. Megan played so well, as did Hayley. Super effort from all. Go Blues 😊
Under 14’s
Fantastic game and win by the girls. Thanks to four U14’s for stepping up. Great encouraging from one another on and off the court.
Under 16’s
An important game to win today and the girls didn’t let anything come in their way. They worked well together smashing the defence and getting the intercepts and rebounds. Always listening and encouraging each other, the girls are heading in the right direction. Go Blues!
B Res
What a brilliant game! Everyone turned up with a super positive attitude today, and it showed on the court. It was an excellent game from all areas of the court, with everyone pushing themselves to the final whistle. We are very proud of you all!
B Grade
An extremely strong side to play against, however we pushed through until the end. Great to see good sportsmanship on court despite a loss by a large margin.
A Grade
First game in A Grade, with 3 players out with Covid, Sophie Hunter and Jamison Wise came up from under 16’s to play a full game with both girls doing a great job. Well done girls for a great effort even if the scores don’t reflect that.
