MAGPIE NATION
What a treat it is to visit a great club like the Demons, very similar traits to our own. Freindly and competive personalities on both football and netball courts and also amongst the ranks of the supporters. Not to many clubs shout the opposition a box of beer after a defeat, to all involved at the Nyah Nyah West United Football Netball Club I tip my hat to you , thanks for the day.
In the Senior football we were challenged all afternoon with physicality and trying to defend some great free flowing football but in the end we had to much class all over the ground and maintained a level of pressure that wore our counterparts down resulting in a lovely win. Best: D Dzufer, J Simpson, J FILO, R Fox, J Lonergan & D Burns.
The Reserves also had a competitive game but their fitness along with a couple of handy inclusions (the comeback kid Squigs) enabled the boys to come out easy victors. Best: P Bryan, T Richardson, Jacks Stewart, A Quigley, B Tripcony & S OReilly.
Probably the most rewarding game of the day from a pride point of view. Challenged all over the ground and asked the question ‘ are you good enough’ both physically , mentally and skill fully the Colts showed why when the pressure is on, they can hold up. I’m sure the coaches will sharpen the focus of the boys right up coming into the back end of the season Best: C Anderson(best performance yet) R Harvey, K Everett, H Heartland,X Sherlock & C Doolan.
The U/14.5’s had a real confidence booster and there we’re plenty of young bucks throwing their weight around in contests that roared up the spirits of teammates to eventually demolish the opposition.Best: W Holmes, K Fleming, Max( the new Tresco kid)Caruso , R Davies, C Doolan & C Dunn.
The U/12,s threw it back to 2nd and burnt the grass with a clinical display of classic football Best: R Davies, E Everett, J Steer, L Mayes & T Arnott .
NETBALL
What started off as a wet and cold morning turn out to be quite a lovely day out at Nyah. As the season winds up games are starting too really starting to get intense as the battle for finals spots.
We had three jnr teams taking the courts and walking away with three wins, while our 18s side had another weekend off, they are itching to get back on the court and put into play what they have been training on.
16&U Boga 32 def Nyah 8 Best: T Tempini & C Ryder.
14&U Boga31 def Nyah 15 Best:Z Robertson& B White.
12&U Boga 27def Nyah 20 Best: R Ryan& E Davis.
We had numerous players having the opportunity to play in higher age groups this weekend due to shortage of players and all taking it in their strides.
We had mix results in the snrs with A and A Res having good battles against the Nyah girls and were able to do enough to bag 4points each.
B and B Res unfortunately fell short on the day but were able to trial other combinations and enable younger players to step up and have a run.
A Grade Boga 52 def Nyah 49 Best: E Peacock& T O’Shannassy.
A Res Boga 52 def Nyah 41 Best: S Anderson & M Rooney.
B Grade Boga 45 Nyah 46 Best: K Moore & BJ Davies. B Res Boga 15 Nyah 37 Best: B Klemperer & S Stephens
Woorinen is going and always is a tough battle across many grades and we look forward to having the ladies in Black and Gold at home on our ladies day.
Greg and Jade will also be present doing some coach mentoring from Insipre during the day.
This weekend is a day of great celebrations with the 1992 &2010 premiership reunions and the ‘ladies’ of our club letting their hair down. Live music on after the game and refreshments all day.Get together and enjoy some victories, hopefully, against our traditional rivals.
On such a big day be well aware of some ‘witches hats’ that will be on and off the ground throughout the day and please get behind vocally all day of all our Magpie teams
