The River Raiders hosted the Cohuna Kangas last Saturday for their second last home game for season 2022, so only four weeks of home and away games to go now, however only three for the Raiders as we have a bye the week before the final game. The Senior game wasn't much fun with the boys going down, but at the same time they never threw the towel in which is a credit to them!. Having our two ruckman in Owen and Kye missing didn't help our cause big time!.The Ressy's were in a position where they had to win or goodbye finals, but, as good teams do they rose to the ocassion and got the points. The Colts won with a bit in hand again and although they have three games to go can look forward to playing in their first finals series for a few years. Hope the young Kangas player who went down in the last qtr. with what looked like a serious injury is okay and we at the Raiders wish him a speedy recovery. It wasn't only a big day on the field, it was also big night for the Raiders off the field with the holding of our annual Goods and Services Auction. It was only week one of the auction though as week two will be held as an ONLINE auction, I think next weekend, where some big ticketed items will be put up for bidding. Onto the footy and as stated earlier our Seniors went down to their old rivals, they were a lot stronger than us but we fought it out to the end and made them earn the points. Awards went to Mr. Smooth Jack Shannon (Raiders Man of the Day), Lucas Iducia (Royal Hotel Barham), Matty Dean (Barham Hotel), and Jacob Barrington (Nthn Tree Fellas), very good game from Jacob. Others to play well were Max Baldissera and Reagan Hamilton. Once again many thanks to Eli Boyd, Jasper Wilson-Keir, Josh Mc Mahon and Lachy Laursen for doubling up on the day.
The Ressy's had the oppurtunity to get back on the winners list in this game and that they did, they may get the chance to play finals yet but they have to keep winning.
Well done to Colts players in Declan Luks, Nick Frankling, Lachy Mc Innes, Ben Miller &Jye Mc Gowan helping out on the day. Awards went to Josh Ward (Wes Hare Spraying Services “Scooby of the Day”), Ash Molin (Royal Hotel Barham), Sam Randall (Barham Hotel) and Todd Frankling (Raiders Canteen award).
The Colts were once again our stars for the day, an excellent win to secure the double chance come finals time. As stated many times they continue to play good footy and have done it for many weeks now with hopefully more to come.
Awards went to Eli Boyd (Royal Hotel Barham), Ben Miller (Don Taylor Pen), Sam Copland (Lanes Elect. Socks), Jake Lowry (Wilma Bott Canteen) and Deklan Luks and Lachy Laursen got the coaches awards.
This week we travel to Balranald to play, it won't be any easier as they are a chance to make the five so another challenge for the Raiders, nevertheless wins in all grades are required.
