Back home last round with a visit from our near neighbours and fierce rivals the Raiders on another cool but fine day. A very big crowd in attendance with the Premiership reunions in full swing, and the ladies being entertained in the basketball social rooms.
Seniors
Again a few good ins but still some troops on the sidelines and a couple of injuries during the game unfortunately; however, this gives continued opportunities to other guys to step up to the plate.
The start of the game was tight and contested which was to be expected. The boys got their noses in front at the first change and then lost the kicking boots a bit in the second quarter; still a handy 34 point lead at half time. The second half was all Blues as the boys piled on 16 goals to keep the crowd cheering until the end. A good win in the finish to stay at the pointy end of things.
Best players: Sean Hunter, Lachie Ross, Brad Pay, Marty Kelly, Josh Nitschke and Nick Stagg.
Queens Arms Hotel Voucher: Lachie Ross.
Kevin Shanahan Massage: Josh Nitschke. (Great to have Kevin on board, he looks after some of the Bendigo boys regularly, welcome to the club mate)

On the road up to Nyah today to tackle the Demons; always a difficult place to come away from with a win. Let’s bring one home today.
Reserves
Well what can you say? With a score of 74 – 1 you might say that’s a comfortable win, but the Raiders boys certainly didn’t let up all day, all credit to them. It may seem harsh to some but we had a few boys play a bit below what they’re capable of. We’ve had a week off and now have games to come against teams around us on the ladder.
Two blokes who were great all day, Sam Skinner and Kel Adams – both very consistent 4 quarter efforts. Well done fellas, BK Publishing and Grub McKnight Concreting awards to you. Young Rylee Gitsham was another who tried his heart out, picking up the Andy Gray Plumbing award. Bob Hall played possibly his best game of the year running out of the backline all day; Bob gets the coveted Can Bar award. Coaches Award went to Jonah McKnight for an excellent roving / crumbing forward game; he is another one continuing to improve.
As they say, a win is a win, keep up the good work boys.
Colts
We had a few players coming back against a Raiders outfit that showed why they are placed so highly on the ladder. The game started with a close, hard fought first quarter that saw the Raiders with their noses in front. The second was also tight with a point in it at half time. In the third our boys struggled to score and the Raiders dashed out to a 24 point lead. They started the last quarter with a full head of steam; our lads couldn’t match them and the visitors went home with a 30 point win and bragging rights.

A tough game for the boys today made them come together as a team to work really hard in the second half to keep the win. Flynn, Hugh and Harvey were all solid, with Nick and Seth working hard out of the backline. Connor and Tyler put in extra hard as did big Jez. The boys are all playing some great footy.

The boys put in another great effort and it’s just a matter of time before knock up a win. They continue to improve so much each week and bring all the boys in to the game together as a team. Great job, GO BLUES!
