Football
This week we play Ultima at Ultima, which promises to be the game of the year to date. Last week Moulamein was forced to play the very defensive game by Wandella, something they’re not used to. It showed that winning ugly is okay, except that football is not pretty. It did ensure some exciting times coming to the end of the last quarter when Wandella was pressing very hard it was fascinating to watch and well worth the price of admission. However, we survived and now know how to play tough, rugged football. This will stand us in good stead against Ultima, and we expect the mighty red and white to be victorious over the kangaroos.
Seniors
We now get the chance to play the only other undefeated side in the league this week, and if we get the same performance from the back line, which was superb last week, led by the fullback Cody Storm he was outstanding. The centre-half-back Kaylem Hartley did a good job as well. The lads from Melbourne and Mathoura chimed in with some excellent play. The Moulamein players were pretty good as well, so it was a good solid, consistent game by the team with only a few outstanding players. They must improve immensely if they wish to continue on the winning streak.
Best Players: Mason Bailey, Daniel Aarsman, Cody Storm, Kaylem Hartley, Amos Farrell, Rodney Reeves
Goal Kickers: - Andy Silva 3, Lochlan Phillips 2, Daniel Aarsman 2, Blake Azzopardi and Khy Stovall 1
Final Score Moulamein 9 – 16 – 70 v Wandella 7 – 16 – 58
Reserves
The reserves were outclassed this week it wasn’t for the lack of effort. A better side beat them on the day. You have these days, and certainly better to have them now than in the grand final. It was a good game to watch, with some excellent passages of play, and certainly, Moulamein were not disgraced on the day. This side certainly has some talent, and some are pushing hard for senior selection, which is good. Travis has the boys firing at the moment, and at times, they play a wonderful brand of football.
Best Players: - Matthew Moroney, James Moroney, Caleb Scandolera, Grant Kaylock, Jacob Lucas, Elijah Prentice
Goal Kickers: - Jade Ewart 3, Elijah Prentice 2, Matthew Maroney, Travis Pryor 1
Final Score Moulamein 7 – 6 – 48 v Wandella 14 – 12 – 96
U17.5
The U17.5 today included two previous locals who were both outstanding. These inclusions certainly lifted what we know is an outstanding, talented side, and the coach has them playing good football. When the under 17.5 play well, they play, and it is a joy to watch the next senior players for the Moulamein football side. So with a dash of good fortune, Moulamein is an excellent chance of playing deep into the finals. This is a pretty good team, and they will likely win comfortably this week.
Best Players: - Jae Bowden, Codi Bowden, Caleb Scandolera, Lenny Ivers, Lochlan Prentice, Seno Fifita
Goal Kickers: - Lochlan Prentice 4, Jae Bowden 3, Tyler Alford 2, Seno Fifita, Lenny Ivers, Elijah Prentice 1
Final Score Moulamein 12 – 8 – 80 v Wandella 6 – 5 -41
U14.5
Moulamein gave their all but was outclassed by a better side on the day. We know that there is no mercy rule in the Golden Rivers football league, which is a shame. Well done to the young lads who never gave up and tried their hearts out all game.
Best players: - Colby Skipsey, Archie Miller, Nate Ewart, Henry McGlashan, Henry Ivers, Lawson Buckley
Goal Kickers: - none
Final Score Moulamein 0 – 0 – 0 v Wandella 19 – 19 – 124
Netball
A Grade
PA and I sat and watched the first half of this game, and he was impressed as I have been all year. All girls played well whilst some were a little better but only just. The coach was very pleased with the efforts of all players and made judging the awards this week very difficult, but we must. How good is this team? pretty good they play a pretty good brand of netball. Some of the passing around the court is amazing, and the defence superbly assists the goal-shooting. This week we tackle Ultima in what could be seen as a tough test. However, we shall survive and have a fabulous victory. This team is still outstanding,
Best Players: - BOC Courtney Atkins, Sarah Carmichael, Madison Wild, Meg Rooney
Final Score: - Moulamein 45 v Wandella 31
From the coach: good win, girls. Put the pressure on Wandella and keep our heads for a defensive game. Well done, girls, keep up the hard work.
B Grade
this week B grade faces the toughest road test Ultima at Ultima, and we are confident we can maintain our position on the ladder. Last week against Wandella, we played some superb netball, and it was a joy to watch potential A graders keeping the pressure on the actual A graders. We have a good team here. This team can achieve anything they desire.
Best Players: - BOC Rhiann O'Meara, Megan Starick, Janae Winzar, Rachel Edwards
Final Score: - Moulamein 34 v Wandella 27
From the coach: well-done girls, really good work. They didn’t stop for the four quarters; great pressure down the court with heaps of intercepts. Super effort by all the girls.
B Reserve
Again the week this game was a thriller. I had a spy watch this for me; he was impressed with some of the play and told me so. I did indeed watch these girls against Wandella. It is a credit to all girls. They gave their all to be beaten on the post. I must have had my old eyes back in as I thought we had won until I was told to get my new eyes back, and unfortunately, we did lose by one goal,
Best Players: - BOC Meganne Bath, Annie Evans, Margot Isailovic, Amy Starick
Final Score: - Moulamein 25 v Wandella 26
From the coach: played hard and gave it our all, tough loss. The girls all played well today.
17 & Under
In a high-scoring game with 85 goals scored, Moulamein were not disgraced and never gave up. This week we face Ultima, who sit atop the ladder, but we can beat them. Some quality players in this grade always give 100%, which is a good delight to all the spectators and coaches alike. Keep up the good work, girls. You will be champions.
Best Players: - BOC Mia Bennett, Maddie Anthony, Chloe Wilson, Summer Starr
Final Score: - Moulamein 31 v Wandella 54

Hot Dog Challenge is back this year.
The hotdog we had today was excellent. It was as snug as a bug in a roll, flavoursome and very tasty. So today, we gave the hotdog and 9.0.
REMINDER:
After the game, there is a mystery bus tour from Ultima to Moulamein, with several stops. This promises to be a fun and fabulous night of entertainment. Please take pity on the bus driver.
