The dog’s faithful travelled south down the Murray Valley Highway to the Magpie nest at Lake Boga last Saturday and it would be fair to say the magpies “swooped” the points in most games!  The dogs were far form disgraced though with some ding dong battles setting up a mouth-watering contest for the return bout later in the year.   In an early sign that “winter is coming” chilly conditions greeted all participants with our under 12s and 18’s netball posting wins on the day. Our A-grade had what was described as a positive loss, showing plenty of spirit.  In the footy our under 12’s nearly snatched victory form the jaws of defeat to go down in a nail biter by a goal! The 14.5’s had a tough day at the office against a strong Lake Boga outfit, the colts football came up against a top side but never gave up. The 2’s followed in similar vein and our senior side got jumped early and never seemed to be able to peg it back.
On Friday night the girls footy was back under lights hosted by Swan Hill. The 15 and under girls took on Sea Lake and played well. This group of girls are improving fr5om week to week and have won two from two. As always, Mayla Conway excited us with bulk goal. Both our U15’s and U12 teams play at Birchip on Sunday where they take on the Bulls! It should be a great time, take mum for a drive, purchase a vanilla slice & show your support for the girls.
Saturday was capped off nicely with our annual Debutante Ball or should we call it the Kings Corrie-nation day! Special thanks to Mark & Kate Corrie for the wonderful presenting of the beautiful debutante’s and their partners. Leanne, Cara, Kristy & parents created such an amazing spectacle and fun dance routines which will be treasured by the debutantes & their families forever.
