KOONDROOK BARHAM FNC

The Raiders played host to one of the flag favourites in Balranald last Saturday and following the result of the Senior game we can see why. The Reserves didn’t fare much better, however it was our consistent Colts who flew the flag for us again with a resounding win. Unfortunately we are not kicking goals on the field but we are kicking goals off the field, we had a huge crowd in attendance, again, the bar and kitchen were flat out all day, and night, and memberships numbers are at an all time high. We must remember all teams go through good and bad times, the Raiders have been there and done that in the past. We are having a horrid run with injuries at the moment which is not helping us at all and I don’t think we have put the same side on the field in any game this year yet. The Under 14’s and Under 12’s are also both going well and did you see the amount of kids playing Auskick at half time. Hope Ash Molin is recovering well from his concussion. The Raiders Lotto numbers have all been sold which is a fantastic effort by Dave and his committee, recent winners are Warren Lolicato, Will Callow and TimGoonan (the Pres’s mate). Onto the footy and to say the Balranald Roos were on the hop would be an understatement, their first 3 minutes said it all with their fast attacking footy, something the Raiders never recovered from, but having said that they didn’t score as heavily as we thought they would. Losing four players prior to the match plus another two during the game really didn’t help our cause at all!. Awards went to Mitch Christensen (Raiders Man of the day), Scott Wood (Royal Hotel), Jacob Barrington (Barham Hotel), and Harley Burmeister (Nthn Tree Fellas).The Ressy’s lost to a lot more determined side, reckon the training track would be a good place to start with if we want to start winning games fellas. Awards went to Danny Main (Wes Hare Spraying Services “Scooby of the Day”), Travis Ford (Royal Hotel), Craig Loomes (Barham Hotel), and Andy Edwards (Raiders Canteen voucher). The Colts had another good win to increase their percentage a tad which could be all important come finals time, the team is going well under coach Leigh Whelan who has some pretty handy footballers at his disposal. Awards went to Lachy Laursen (Fishing Comp. voucher), Travis Ford (Lanes Electrical), Eli Boyd (Don Taylor Pen), good to see Eli back out there strutting his stuff, Nick Frankling (Wilma Bott Canteen voucher), and Jye Mc Gowan & Mason Jones received the coaches awards. Big test this week for the boys but we are pretty sure they can handle it. Membership packages are still on sale, there is still a variety of packages available.

The CMFL is currently having heaps of trouble trying to get umpires this season and at this stage it looks like the seniors will need to have a club umpire each week. So any players who have recently retired and want to earn some good money each week, don’t hesitate to put your hand up and have a go, that probably goes for all clubs in the CMFL. One final thing, having a home game or even an away game, involves a lot of people so if you would like to help out in anyway at all please don’t hesitate to approach the committee, or anyone who is already making a contribution, many hands make light work!.

A huge congrats to the Social committee on the success of the Horse Racing night, well attended by a lot of people who all had a great night of fun and frivolity, although don’t think some of those outfits would have a hope in the world of getting into Flemington.

This weekend we travel to one of the other flag favourites in Woorinen, so it doesn't get any easier for us, five games in and we have played 3 of the top five teams, so we would like to thank the CMFL for that draw!. Anyway good luck to all football and netball teams for this Saturday.
