Football Round Four Wrap Up…
Seniors – Kerang 96 def Cohuna 58
Back on home soil at Riverside Park last Saturday for the much-awaited Grand Final reply against our fierce rivals from Cohuna. The weather was a bit cool for watching but ideal for playing footy despite a breeze blowing to the town end.
The game started as expected, with both sides bringing great pressure around the ball and the player. No place for the faint hearted in this one. The Kangas jumped out of the blocks before the Blue boys settled and began to even the contest. The quarter ended with Cohuna holding a slender 4-point lead. The second quarter saw the Blues make the most of their opportunities to post a 5-2 to 1-5 quarter for a 17-point lead at the long break. The boys kept the foot down in the second half with a 6 goal to 3 returns to run out 38-point winners at the end. Some tired boys headed off to the Progressive Dinner to celebrate a good day’s work.
Best players were led by Josh Nitschke with a superb captain’s game despite some heavy attention. Great games also by Adam Hunter, Rylee Smith, Josh Hann, Michael Dalrymple, and Jesse Clark.

Well, the Magoos certainly got the job done on Saturday. A real contest in the first half but after that they really controlled the game. Their fitness and teamwork came to the fore in an excellent all-round performance. Rhylee Gitsham was excellent in the ruck and around the ground especially with his run and dash. Coaches award to Rhylee great performance. Not far behind him was Alex Lloyd in his best game for the year not only kicking 6 goals but giving some away, a really great team game Alex. Autopro towel goes to the BOD. Jonah McKnight and Harry Saunders were two exciting forwards were used their youth to get in space and get on the scoreboard. Tommy Dunham played his best game for the year also running hard all around the ground and consistently giving great drive around the field. Great game Tommy. Peter Moore never wasted a ball going forward, a real pleasure to see. Rounding off the awards were two of our most consistent players so far this year in Captain Higgs and Foxy Tuohey running themselves into the ground and never wasting a possession always trying to bring fellow teammates into the game, super efforts fellas. This week we have the doggies on their home deck, so let’s make sure we bring our A game and continue our great start to the 2023 season.

A tough game against quality competition. Our defenders worked hard all game pressuring the ball all over the court. Shooters had a hard day, not only adapting to a new pairing, but also intense defenders. Thanks to Tahliah and Maia for filling in today.

These girls continue to amaze us with their teamwork, resilience, and trust with each other. Their want for the ball showed. Their fitness showed today as their 3rd and 4th quarters they dominated. Great effort girls. A couple of injuries, so we wish these girls all the best in their recoveries.
