KOONDROOK BARHAM FNC

On a magnificent day for football and netball and in front of a huge crowd, the River Raiders played host to arch rivals in the Cohuna Kangas. With no Colts game due to the Kangas not being able to field a side the day consisted of Under 12’s, Under 14’s, Ressy’s and Seniors. We won them all except the Seniors so you could say we finished on the right side of the ledger. Prior to the Senior game an Anzac day service was held with Senior, Reserve and netball teams lining up in front of the clubrooms to pay homage to our ex servicemen and ex service women who fought for our country in many wars, it was an excellent service and well done by the Raiders. Onto to the football and not a lot can be said about the Senior game so I won’t, except one thing, we must get better if we are going to make any impact at all this year!. Awards went to Mitch Christensen (Raiders Man of the Day), Scott Woods (Royal Hotel), Will Lake (Nthn Tree Fellas), and Dom Cirillo (Barham Hotel). The Ressy’s got their first win of the season in a hard fought win, spose it doesn’t matter how you do it as long you get the four points. Awards went to Nathaniel Leonard (Wes Hare Spraying Services, this young bloke has played two rippin games, Ben Miller (Royal Hotel), another youngster going places, Xavier Leonard (Barham Hotel), trying to match it with his brother and Nick Frankling (Raiders Canteen voucher), Nick is continuing on from his form from last season. Notice all those award winners, some of our very promising juniors so the future looks good. As I stated previously no Colts game but obviously some of those kids wanted a game of footy so they helped out the Ressy’s, well done boys. Don’t forget training is on Tuesday and Thursday nights, good way to spend a couple of hours watching some future stars go through their routines. Membership packages are now on sale, there is a variety of packages available to suit everyone and they are very reasonably priced. See Belinda Molin or Julie Frankling and they will put you on the right track. Also the Raiders Lotto is up and running, see Dave, Belinda or Julie to be involved, there is some good money to be won each week, top prize each week is $400 & not many tickets left!.

The CMFL is currently having heaps of trouble trying to get umpires this season and at this stage it looks like the seniors will need to have a club umpire each week. So any players who have recently retired and want to earn some good money each week, don’t hesitate to put your hand up and have a go, that probably goes for all clubs in the CMFL. The Social Calendar for this season has been released and it appears the club is gearing itself for a big year on and off the field, nothing like being involved in probably the best family club in the area. Plenty of apparel is available to be purchased at the club and wearing the club colours around our twin towns is a good sign of our support. One final thing, having a home game and sometimes an away game, involves a lot of people so if you would like to help out in anyway at all please don’t hesitate to approach the committee, or anyone who is already making a contribution, many hands make light work!.

This weekend we travel to the big smoke i.e. Swan Hill to play Tyntynder, maybe we can jag a win this weekend in the Seniors, or for all grades for that matter, unfortunately the games are not going to get any easier!.

After the game this Saturday we support one of our major sponsors in Clubarham, let’s see as many supporters etc. get there as possible!.

Good luck to all the Raiders footballers and netballers, let’s go Raiders!.

It was the perfect weather on Saturday to be down at Raiders home ground supporting our Netball and Football teams for the 1st Home game of the season. It was great to see so many supporters around the courts.

Congratulations to Ella Hall who played her 1st A grade game on Saturday, which an awesome achievement for a 14-year-old.

Another of our Junior players, Remy Doyle has been selected in the CMFNL Under 17’s Interleague side. This is a huge achievement – Congratulations Remy!

Next week we play away at Tyntynder. Good Luck to all grades.
