Round Two Wrap Up…
Seniors – Kerang 182 def Mallee Eagles 21
Back home at Riverside Park on Saturday for our first home game of 2023 as we hosted the Mallee Eagles. After a few moments to remember and reflect on the significance of the upcoming Anzac Day, the 2022 Senior Premiership flag was unfurled along with recognition of the Under 16 Netball Premiership, in front of a big crowd of members and supporters.
On a perfect day for football the game opened at a fast pace with the boys gradually getting on top to finish with a 5-goal lead at quarter time. The Blues kept the foot on the gas with a 9 goal to 2 second quarter to break the game open. Another dominant second half finished with a big win to keep the good start to the year going.
Today we head up to Nyah to take on the Demons in what is always a difficult fixture. The boys are looking forward to the battle against a Nyah outfit that is certainly up and about and will be aiming to bring their best form.
Best Players – Best players were headed by Brad Pay with 7 goals and a heap of the footy; other top performers were Ryan Gillingham, Josh Nitschke, Rylee Smith, Sean Hunter, and Nick Lang.
Reserves – Kerang 96 def Mallee Eagles 8
Super dry and 🔥 conditions didn’t deter the magoos as they recorded another win against Lalbert. Johnno Roberts was excellent all day to win the Autopro Towel. Harry Saunders was another who worked tirelessly also to richly deserve the coaches award. Rylee Gitsham in his first game toiled hard running up and down the ground to win the Exchange Hotel Award. Nick Pay also in his first match this year won the Queens Arms award for his sterling efforts in the midfield. Gregor Knight in his first of many more games to come for his new club won the can bar award for his run and dash across half back. Then the two-gun forwards in Alex Lloyd and Sam Nitschke won the Andy Gray plumbing award and Grub McKnight concreting for their efforts leading hard and kicking goals at times!!!! Foxy Tuohey won the Mawson’s beanie for his never waste a disposal effort always trying to pinpoint a forward entry to his forwards. Overall considering it’s only Round 2 a good start to the season. Another great test for us this week away to Nyah who always give us a great contest. GO BLUES!!!!!!

Under 12’s – Kerang 6 def by Mallee Eagles 79
The under 12’s had a tough day at the office against a more experienced side in the Mallee Eagles. Our boys and girl fought the game out and managed to hit the scoreboard for our first goal of the year. We are seeing improvement, so things are looking good. We will address a few things at training and continue to get better each week as enthusiasm is still very high.

The girls put in an amazing effort on such a warm day. Kate and Chloe were strong in defence and the ball moved freely down the court. KB your leadership on the court is terrific. A super effort by you all!
Awards: Royal Hotel – Katelyn Wright, Queen’s Arms – Keiarah Brooks, Towel – Chloe Adams.
A Res Kerang 27 def by Mallee Eagles 65
The girls battled it out today in the heat & with some unwell. Emma flew around the court and smashed it in goals. Special mention to Kendall who transitioned to GK in Q4 beautifully. Lots to take out of today’s game and an opportunity to continue to look at the positions early on this season. A great effort today.
Awards: Autopro Towel – Lauren Adams, Little Shoe Shop – Emma Wright.

Much tougher game this week, combined with the heat. The score does not do justice to this game. It was a tight hard-fought game to the end.

What a great hit out by our U12 netball girls today. Our team is starting to work well together & the girls are all having fun trying all court positions. The 6 qtrs. today gave all girls a good amount of court time. We had lots of intercepts & turn overs through the midcourt. Our defence rebounded well, and our shooters worked well getting good positions for shooting.
Awards: Rumbold Earthmoving – Tehya Gitsham, Sportspower – Macey Hall, Chinos – Megan Adam, Ladies Committee – Trinity Hastie.
A big thank you to everyone for supporting our Major Netball Raffle. Congratulations to our winners.
