Well, what a great start to Season 2023 at Lalbert on Saturday 4 from 4 in footy!
We kick off in the u/12 with no scoring, speaking to Coach Squigs the young Swoopers came up against a bigger and older team, coach Squigs has already identified areas the young Swoopers can improve in going forward which he will work on at training.
U/14 had a really strong performance under legendary coach Anderson & his side kick Ollie Rhode. The Boys defence was superb holding the opposition to 2 points for the game. Our offence was a bit rusty in front of the big Sticks managing 10 goals 13 points something that the boys will be working on this week!
Our Colts boys under new coaches TJ & The Wild thing had a day out against a very young Mallee Eagles side keeping them scoreless and amassing over 200 points in front of the big sticks. Shout out to Koben Ryan kicking 9 Goals well done Kobs!
That’s when the rain came down, just as the reserves ran out onto the field.
The boys under new Coach Johnny Foskett had to scrap and fight and played really well in those conditions against an opposition side that were bigger and more experienced than our youngsters so it was a great win by our boys ,winning 32 to 20.
In the Seniors the boys came out firing in the first quarter kicking the first 4 goals of the game but also a bit wasteful with 6 behinds for the quarter.
Then it became just a scrap with the rain becoming heavier and the ball like a cake of soap!
To our boys credit they they fought and scraped and the pressure was first class throughout the whole day to come out on top 9.15 to 5.7.
Well done to all our new players to the club as it’s always hard to win out at Lalbert.
Today we welcome Nyah to our first home game for the year let’s make sure we make some noise Magpienation and come away with another 4 wins for the day.
