Under 12 awards: Imi Collier, Ivy Shea, Maddi Keath (McDonalds), Lyla Morton (Canteen), Sadie Spitty (Coaches) & Lexie McKnight (Chips).
The 14’s had a great game but unfortunately went down by 5, the girls actually outscored the opposition by 1 goal in the second half so there’s lots of positives. Belle Morton (Harvey/Laursen $10) led the scoring in goals and Freya Kennedy (AB Building $5) put lots of pressure on at WD. Other awards to Chloe Strange (Chips) and Maddy Walle (McDonalds).
17’s had a slow start but once they got going the scoring started to flow, Macorna were just a bit too good though. Was nice to see Immy Cummins back on court, she combined nicely with Summah Turner (John Morrow Socks) in goals. Up the other end we saw Jessie Teasdale (Chips) and Charlotte Baulch (McDonalds) forming a formidable team across the defensive transverse line.
B ressie saw another mother daughter duo take the court, with Erica and Immy Cummins combining, so many family connections playing together this year which is great to see and be a part of! Both teams were keeping the scorers busy early before the switch of Erica Cummins (Scissors) into defence really slowed down the Macorna scoring rate and the lead opened up with great shooting from Teish Nethercote (Grays) who also had a run out at GA.
Netball
The A grade took to the court ready for a close battle and the first quarter was hotly contested with only a narrow lead to the girls at the first break. Great defensive pressure across the court saw plenty of turnovers which were accurately converted in attack and the girls ran out winners. Best to Kate Henry (Tailored Peach) who was a welcome inclusion in defence and Mary Yates-Ward (Grays) who couldn’t be stopped in attack.
B grade were still a little depleted of regular team members and had another very close match with the lead only opening up in our favour in the last quarter. Mila Bray (Pam’s award) stepped up when needed in the mid court playing a beautiful and steady game and Hannah Condely (Grays) ran out her 8th quarter for the day and chased everything down to turn the ball over at WD.
