Seniors

This week we travel to Wandella, a game we must win to enable us to pressure the second side, Quambatook, continually. We must become more competitive and play together to do this. It was great to see the fullback (Beau Duggan-Hulands) move to full forward and kick another six goals alongside Luke Smailes, who kicked three. To defeat Wandella, we must continually play as a complete attacking unit to enable us to achieve victory and therefore keep our final aspirations alive. Moulamein has several exciting players, and they are now starting to play together as a polished unit, which must please the coach.

Moulamein has always loved travelling to Wandella as the ground is a test for any football side; even though the hill on the eastern side has had a significant reduction, players still have an advantage, which is excellent.

We will move closer to the impossible dream of a premiership when we win today.

Moulamein, at times, can play exciting football, and it is a treat to watch a team be this good; we all need to get behind the coaching team and provide 100% commitment so that the Moulamein football netball club is indeed finals bound.

Last week we played host to Ultima, which always is a very competitive game, and this indeed proved to be the case. We certainly were in for a productive afternoon with Beau and Luke in the goals. Alongside the back line, which played very well today, we were in for a treat. The centreline, rucks, and Rovers provided many attacking moves today from the fullback line to the full-forward line and all over the ground. I don't think Ultima knew what hit them when we started playing a top-notch football brand and a treat to see.

The roving reporter selects Moulamein to win the encounter by 28 points.

Last weeks result

In a spirited attacking game and a relentless defence, the mighty Moulamein swans were victorious.

Reserves

Last week, the roving reporter told you that the reserves side was playing very well, and this continued against Ultima as we were victorious again.

It was a great game; with some clever passages of play and excellent teamwork, we again proved that when we have the full complement of players very competitive. The reserves need credit where credit is due as they are playing superb football to defeat some of the topsides in the competition.

The reserves today were entirely focused on winning by 40 points.

Under 17.5

Today we played the highly fancied Ultima under 17.5, and Moulamein proved what side they could be when they have all the players available. Saturday was a fascinating and exciting game, and we were all enthralled right down to the final siren. Moulamein, once again, we were victorious, and we are now surely getting together a good side to challenge for the finals. This side will prove a great feeding ground for the seniors in the future as many talented players are playing under 17.5.

Under 14.5

This game was a thriller right down to the final siren either side would have been unlucky with the loss. Unfortunately, it was us today; however, the endeavour shown by the boys was encouraging to say the least. We never gave up, and it was great to see that we could be very competitive in this league.

Netball

A Grade

Today we face Wandella, and Wandella is always a challenge to Moulamein. It was exciting to see some familiar old faces playing for Moulamein, and if we continue, we will undoubtedly be victorious today.

It is always great seeing a champion team, and we are sure of that. Expecting big things today, and we will be there cheering and barracking as we always do.

Last week, we played Ultima, one of the best netball games I have seen this year. It was a goal for goal all game. It is a pity that there must be a loser in games like this. It will undoubtedly build our cohesion to develop into a formidable team.

Score: Moulamein 41 defeated by Ultima 43

BOC: Ella Roberts, Ellie  Henery, Shanae O’Meara, Renae Isma

B Grade

In the B grade today, we come up against the side in Ultima that always provides us with a real challenge. We know we can win as we have the skill and talent to be victorious, so the coach said now the side is starting to settle, we can expect great things from the side, maybe even a premiership, who knows. This netball side is very talented and plays together as one.

The coach said, "well done, girls; a great game. We achieved everything we have been working on super effort; well done".

Score: Moulamein 56 defeated Ultima 22

BOC: Tanae Walker, Madison Houlihan, Megan Starick, Rhiann O'Meara, Sarah Makepeace

This week we come up against Wandella, a formidable combination, but Moulamein will continue and prevail with another stunning victory. A win today will see us move up a spot on the ladder.

B Reserve

I did not see this game, but my spies told me that the girls were very competitive, and it was just a few errors that cost us a victory.

Score: Moulamein 22 defeated by Ultima 43

The Coach said good pressure all over the ball, and some excellent intercept plays.

BOC: Maganne Bath, Laura Wilson, Sharni Prentice, Amy Starick

Under 14

In the under 14 games today, we took on Ultima, and although the girls gave their all, we were not victorious. We need to keep our heads up and play like we played the last few weeks, and we will prove to be champions. Well done on the year so far, and keep on keeping on.

The coach said, "the girls had a tough game this week but worked well as a team to keep the score low and fought for every centre."

Score: Moulamein  11 defeated by Ultima 25

BOC: Skye Prentice, Sophie Bennett, Mia Bennett,  Summer Starr, Chloe Wilson, Matilda Burbury

F Troop (under 12)

Score: unknown

BOC: Maddy McCulloch, Harper Battye, Olivia Anthony, Lilly McCullogh, Amy Gorey, Paige Patten, Jazmyn Worboyes, Grace Anthony, Almay Gorey, Mila Gray, Ebony Patten, Mackenna Hull, Breeze Starr

The coach said, "Great effort from all the girls today—some beautiful passages of play and consistent effort; well done to you all, so proud. Also, thanks to the girls that filled in for Ultima as they only had six players. Great sportsmanship

Hot Dog

Something must have happened today in the hot dog challenge. The roll was excellent. "Grizza" must have made special rolls today. The sauce was great, and the Hot Dog that I had was superb. All-round, an excellent hot dog today, a 9.6 equal now with Nullawil.

Nullawil – 9.6, Moulamein – 9.6, Hay – 9.3. Ultima – 8.8, Murrabit – 8.8 exciting times ahead in the Hot Dog challenge.

One cannot leave this page without saying the old players' reunion was an outstanding success with attendees from all parts of Australia. It was great to catch up with everyone; many tales did indeed ensue. Thank you to all the catering staff (too many to mention) for an excellent repast.
