A Grade
Hay 32 defeated Wandella 29
A grade was an exciting game to watch with the score even with a couple of minutes to go. The defenders worked hard all game, turning the ball over and giving the shooters plenty of opportunities, with Ruby Stewart (Ian Bunyan’s Player’s Player) dominating in GD. Accurate shooting by Ruby Cattanach (South Hay’s Best on Court) got Hay over the line in the end.

B Grade
Wandella 37 defeated Hay 30
Hay started slow but come back in the 2nd quarter by 10 goals and went in to the 4th quarter at 25 goals each. Unfortunately we were not able to hold on and take the win, but the girls worked extremely hard and put up a great challenge playing their best game of the season. Hannah Mcgufficke (Hay Bowling & Golf Club Best on Court) played her best game of the season and Hannah Shea (Hannah Mcgufficke Hairdressing Players Player) showed great team spirit.

B Reserve
Hay 52 defeated Wandella 36
The game was a nail biter for the first half, but with excellent shooting from Hay we managed to draw out the lead and come away with another win for the season! Kylie Brettschneider (Tantrum Hair & Beauty Award and Players Player) was a power house for the whole game. Jess Weymouth (Players Player) was shining in defence and Emily Armstrong (Harrison’s IGA Award) is really improving each week.

Under 17’s
Hay 30 tied with Wandella 30

Playing the second placed Wandella at home the Lions 17s got off to a great start with Lucy Shea (The Spot Award) at Centre controlling the midcourt as the Hay girls defence all over the court, snuffed out the Wandella attack to take the lead. The second half saw a defensive arm wrestle as both sides nullified one another, Emma Johnson (Peter Mullins Building Award) was getting vital intercepts and Katie Howard (Highway Inn Motel Award) was dominant at GK. While the Hay girls were disappointed with the tie, the effort was there all game.

Under 14’s
Hay 41 defeated Wandella 21
Keen to turn the tables on their first round narrow loss, the Hay girls stamped their authority on the game from the start with confident, controlled play down the court and tight defence. Accurate shooting saw the Lions establish an eight goal lead in the first quarter, and they never looked back. Award winners were Poppy Barnes (Lions Canteen Voucher donated by Lani Houston) for her energy and agility, Emily Taylor (Hay Newsagents) for her solid defence in all positions played, and Genevieve Williamson (Hay Calisthenics) for stepping up and showing great improvement on the wing.

F Troop
Hay 25 defeated Wandella 1
F-troop played a great match on Saturday morning putting their training skills into use, with Hay girls winning 25 to 1. Prue Rutledge (Two Billy Buttons award) shot some spectacular goals and Sophie Griffiths (Lions Canteen Award donated by Lani Houston) worked consistently in attack.
