Football
With the weather predicted a nice day at Macorna, the Under 14s kicked the dew off the grass. With a few injuries during the week, the minis were undermanned but fought out well. Final score was Macorna 12.8 (80) to Nullawil 1.5 (11). Best players for the morning were Ollie Alderuccio, Tiger Vearing, Brody Kelly, Max Fawcett, Tynan Perry and Cooper Kelly. Thanks to Ollie for coming to have a run with us.
In a tight tussle all day the under 17s just fell short close to the final siren going down by 4 points to Macorna. Macorna 6.6 (42) to Nully 5.8 (38). Charlie Fawcett and Tynan Perry both kicked 2 goals each, witt better players for the day being Dude Kelly, Charlie Fawcett, Sol Kelly, Max Fawcett, Les Cooper and Will Gilchrist.
With both the Tigers and the Maroons both undefeated in the reserves, Nully knew it was going to take their best to get over Macorna, with some experience back into the team, the seconds came out with the 4 points for the match with the scoreboard having Nullawil victors by 26 points. Final score Macorna 6.11 (47) defeated by Nullawil 11.7 (73). Heath Pollington was the major goal kicker with 4. Best players were Royce Free, Matt Poyner, Lachlan Braine, Blair Hogan and Jason Perry.
In the final game of the day, Nully were prepared for Macorna to play a tight contested game to attempt to stop the flow of the senior boys scoring ability. But the game was won in the first half, with Nullawil booting 20 goals in the first 2 quarters. After all quarters were played Nully came out winners by 128 points. Andrew Oberdorfer was the most accurate with kicking 8 goals and Angus Forrester and Josh Bamford with 4 each. Patrick Kelly was best for the day with Matt Quigley, Josh Bamford, Jordan Humphreys, Andrew Oberdorfer and Zac Kelly also among the better players. Next week we take on Moulamein, with the progressive tea as the function after.
Netball
The under 14 girls were certainly in fine form having a 60 goal win.
Lana Fawcett was brilliant in the centre whilst Lily Humphries was rock solid in defence sending the ball back and taking numerous intercepts.
If you haven’t watched these girls they are def worth coming to the netball early.
Nullawil 83 def Macorna 23.
The under 17’s won in a tightly contested game against the Tigers.
Best players were Jessie Fawcett who has stepped up in the goals and Mon Kelly who battled hard for the whole game.
Nullawil 33 def Macorna 31.
The B Reserve ladies are travelling along beautifully with a bit of youth and experience in this team led them to another victory.
Best players, Liz Theoharethes and Tegan Devereux who both made it very hard for their opponents.
Nullawil 75 def Macorna 23
The A Grade was a very tough and physical game where the most disciplined team took home the honours.
Great defending by the duo of Meg Hogan and Sophie Peacock earnt who both worked tirelessly and put their bodies on the line, poor Taya Bartram was on the end of a knock and hit the court pretty hard.
Nullawil 22 def Macorna 19 in a very low scoring game.
