FOOTBALL
Round 6 - Macorna Vs. Nullawil
Under 14’s:
It was a solid effort against a talented Nullawil side last week. We came away with the win though, with great handballs and teamwork. Mason played his best game of the year and Malcolm got on the end of a nice goal. Jaxon was solid as always. Other best we Will M, Cooper and Oakley.
Best on:
1st best: Mason Caldwell
2nd Best: Malcolm Dunlevy
3rd Best: Jaxon O’Rourke
Reserves:
Our big chance for the top spot on the ladder against Nully and we just missed out. If we had of kicked straighter this would have made the difference. Best was Edgy, Haff and Pearcy, who were all playing good games. Up and about, go Tiges!
Best on:
1st Best: Clinton Edge
2nd Best: Shaun Haffenden
3rd Best: Kyle Pearce
Seniors:
Tough day at Tiger land last week against Nullawil, the top side. The 2nd quarter didn’t go to plan however the team dug deep and played really good footy in the second half. Hirdy had a solid game to continue his good form. Budge was inventive as usual with a couple of nice goals. Fergus showed his goal kicking form also in front of gaols after some mid-week practise. Other good players were Keiro, Brad and City.
Awards:
Best on: Tyler Hird
2nd Best: Chris Wilson
3rd Best: Fergus Bear
NETBALL
U12
Lovely to welcome the Nullawil U12 players to combine with our girls for an U12 scratch-match being played in the true spirit of the U12 completion – encouragement, fairness and celebrating participation rather than results. A special thanks to Ayla and Paige for joining in at the last minute.
Our focus this week was about 3 ft defence and leading to the ball. Kenzie and Kaiya received the awards for their endeavors to reach these goals. Welcome back Makenna from injury.
U14
Saturday’s game against Nulliwal has been our toughest game so far. Our girls did the best they could, we had some great passages of play but ultimately Nulliwal played an amazing game. Scores were Nulliwal 83-23 Macorna. Our awards went to Evie Mackenzie who went onto the court with determination and heart and played the whole game like that. Miley Anset got the second award for playing a strong game and never giving up.
U17
What a game! We’ve finally come together as a team and what a team we were! Everyone put in 100% each quarter and never gave up. We were 7 down going into the last quarter and we knew we had to dig deep. We kept Nully to 6 in the last while out goalies smashed out 11 to finish off the game in what was like a final! Sham got herself an award for her defensive pressure and great hussle & Madz Black received the other award for her movement in and around the ring
B Reserves
A tough hit out for us against Nully today. We didn't come away with a win, but we kept going despite the score line. Our defenders worked tirelessly all day, with Taylah getting BOC with the club award for making her goalie work hard to earn her goals. Kassidy got the exchange award.
Thanks to Sherri and Katrina for stepping in and having a run with the B Res girls.
B Grade
B Grade were again a bit flat to start. We regrouped at half time and our second half was much better. Awards went to Holly who is having a stellar season and to Robyn who has come up from B res and is proving she deserves the challenge.
A Grade
A Grade came to play! Let’s hope that’s a final as it was on!! It was a battle of both ends as due to the amazing defence of both teams we struggled to hit the score board.. as did they. Not bad considering Nully are the yardstick. We reckon we will get them next time. Awards went to Della and Ebony.
