Last week we welcomed Quambatook to our ground for what will be their last visit as a competing club in the GRFNL. This was sad occasion and we congratulate them for their persistence and hard work over a difficult few years as well as wishing their members all the best in the future. It was great to have quite a few stick around well into the evening, thank you.
Groovin the Roo was a huge success last weekend and a rough head count from our security had 130+ groovers in attendance. I don’t like picking favourites but ‘The Sugar Show’ was a clear standout for mine. (I realise that doesn’t sound great but it is quite innocent)
Great job social committee.
Football:
Auskick, Under 14.5’s & Under 17.5’s combined mixed intra club:
Ultima 6.6 42 Def Waitchie Tigers 5.6.36
It is our aim to keep our juniors engaged when we can and this mixed junior game was a great exponent of kids wanting to play sports. Billy Del was the Ultima Roo’s coach and Coops took the reigns of the Waitchie Tigers team. It was free flowing football and the big kids need to be congratulated on the care they took with the little kids on the ground. Bad luck to the Tigers but the Roo’s got up in a tight finish.
Best players: Harry Atkin and Mayla Conway
Reserves:
The Quamby boys put out a good reserves team with a few helpers from Lalbert which found our old mate Simon Makur in the wrong coloured jumper. Tooley and Frosty encouraged our boys play the game right out until the end and they all responded which got us the win. Dasha Tomamichel was back to his best letting loose a few well-timed left foot torpedos and big Maxy continued his fine form.
Best Players: Darcy Tomamichel, Craig Maxwell, Jordan King, Ruben Noles, Eddie Kuchel & Lachy Paull
Seniors:
We took on the highly fancied Quambatook team in the late game and the boys can hold their heads high. Although Quamby eventually got the win, it was a hard fought game and with us down at ¾ time, 7 goals to 8, we were right in the thick of it. Symo, Satchy and Jaime lead by example and our younger brigade are starting to take some notice. It was great to have Schapes back in the Blue and White stripes and also good to see a lot of our kids in the best. Keep at it boys.
Best Players: Angus Hinton, Jamie Nicholas, Riley Haberman, Lachy Edwards, Darcey Farrell & Jacob Schaper

Ultima 24 Quambatook 42
Always a difficult game when the rain hits. In slippery conditions we never let our heads drop and always kept fighting. Injury blows to Jess with dislocated and broken finger. It just wasn’t our day. Awards to Emily and Sarah.

Ultima 37 Quambatook 49
Quamby has been the team to beat this season and we gave ourselves the best possible start to try and take the win. Unfortunately, the lack of concentration through certain patches during each quarter cost us and Quamby was able to make us pay for our mistakes. There is plenty of positives to take from our game and we look forward to meeting them again next time. Awards this week went to Chloe and Jenna.
We are away to Wandella today and wish all the best to our competing teams. Don’t forget to get back to the Swan Hill Club for dinner and a chat after today’s game.
