Football

At home last week against Wandella both teams continued to face challenges of player availability, the 4ths started the day with a tight battle across the four quarters. Unfortunately the boys were handed their first defeat of the season by just over 3 straight kicks. Ryleigh Wilkinson was back after his Senior debut last week and controlled most of the play for the blues along with Riley Carse once again amongst the best.

Award Winners: Kobe Teasdale (Kerang Electronics), Cooper Hein (Toohey Farms), Angus McDonald (Riverside Farms), Parker Bray (Lake Charm Salt), Xavier Murray (Canteen Voucher)

Our 3rds found out that with persistence and resilience it will all pay off. In their first win since 2019 our boys sung the song with plenty of gusto and there may have even been a few tears shed. Sam Copland once again was our best player on the ground and I could probably leave this sentence in each week. Sam pushes himself each week through the middle of the ground often unchanged. Free  was dominant down back with his run and carry a real hope for the future.  It was hard to restrict the best players to 6 let alone the awards. Congratulations to all

Award Winners: Noah Shea (McKnight & Bray), Zeb Hein (Nethercote Farms), Matt Mulchay (D&J Hein), Dylan Maher (John Morrow Socks), Chase Coulter (AB Building Construction)

Our Reserves followed on the success of the 3rds with a victory to get them back on the winners list for 2022. Dave Toohey was impressive with his attack on the ball and clean skills. As too was Matt Webb and a big welcome back and thanks to Bluey McCoombe for his game on the weekend

Award Winners: Dave Toohey (Greg Dickson), Will Hartley (Car Wash)

Our seniors we in the hunt for the first quarter but were ran over the top of from there on in. continual skill errors found the boys having to transition back into defensive mode rather than continuing to attack. Marc O’Neill had plenty of the ball and Tom Hetherington was back into the side and provided a deep target up forward.

Award Winners: Nathan Morrow (Royal Hotel), Ashton Wood (Mystic Park Hotel).

Netball

Under 12

Chips - Ella Henry, McDonalds - Maddi Keath, Frankie Bray, Eliza Maher, Canteen - Sadie Spitty, Coaches award - Jorja Danson.

Under 14

The Under 14 girls didn’t take home the 4 points but they still had a great game and it was great to see Lyla Morton (McDonalds) step up for her 1st game of under 14s, she combined beautifully in defence with Georgia Carse (Harvey/Laursen $10) who continues to impress with her ability to win ball back.

Other awards went to Freya Kennedy (AB Building $5) & Matilda McKenzie (Chips).

Under 17

The 17’s are still growing and working on their combinations and improving each week, the were able to work on consistent scoring and had some nice passages of play. Awards to Alison Copland (Socks), Summah Turner (Copland salt $5), Charlotte Baulch (Chips) and Kate Whorwood (McDonalds).

A Grade

The A Grade game was closer than some may have expected with some even matchups over the court. Luckily the level heads of Grace who was slotting in goals and Kayla pulling in rebounds in the final quarter meant the girls were in front at the final whistle. We welcomed back Carly Ettershank who slotted into centre like she’d been there every week. Awards to Steph Reeves (Rulcifys) for 110% effort and Lauren Morrow (Scissors)

B Grade

B Grade also had a new addition, welcoming back Erin Hein (Rulcifys) after quite some time away from the courts, she slipped back in brilliantly, combining well with Aimee Sinclair (Pam’s award) in defence. The girls turned over lots of ball and had the game pretty well stitched up by ¾ time, the only downside being a couple of rolled ankles which hopefully recover quickly.

B Grade Reserves

B Res continued their hot form with a big win against Wandella, was great to see mother daughter duo Jessie and Jo playing together for the first time. Awards to Nicole Henry (Tailored Peach), Erica Cummins (TWCM) & Hannah Condely (Grays).
