Ultima FNC Record Notes

Last week we travelled to Murrabit and had another mixed bag of results leaving with as many winning teams as we did losing teams.  We then went back to the clubrooms for our big draw where Shane Bennett was our lucky winner of the $2,000.00 which is quite fitting as he is a huge supporter of the club.  Well done to Kiely and Symo who organised another successful event. 

Football:

Under 14.5’s

We faced the team we will be playing in the first semi-final in three weeks and whilst we didn’t come away with the chocolates, we did put in a good fight and outscored them in the 3^rd.  The big kids do a power of work and the little ones always stand up in finals.  Well done lads

Under 17.5’s

Its tight at the top of the 3rds ladder with the top 3 teams on equal points.  The win against Murrabit was a good one and it would have been pleasing for the coaches that the boys improved as the day went on.  I am still amazed at the young lads who give it all in the thirds then back it up in the seniors. Keep up the good work.

Reserves:

With a finals spot on the line our boys got to work against second on the ladder and the Murrabit boys launced a comeback in the last.  There was a fair amount of advice being offered from their bench and some of the language would make a sailor blush.  Stu Polk once again proved his versatility and we wish Wokka all the best with his recovery from what some are calling an old man’s injury (calf).

Seniors:

This is one that got away and congratulations to Murrabit who were too good for us at the end of the day.  We got off to a slow start and let them kick a couple early in the last which made life tough but it was a very even contest otherwise.  The commitment and spirit amongst this group is a fantastic foundation for future success. Keep persisting men.

Netball:

U12s

Tough game for the girls today, they all worked consistently hard throughout the game and gave it their all. Awards: Mayla and Ari.

U14s

Good game by all this week, we mixed around positions and everyone contributed well.  Thanks for Charli for playing again this week, we really appreciate it.  Only a few more weeks to go, let’s all get to training and do our best. U17s

Ultima 50 def Murrabit 12

After a close first quarter Ultima finished strongly to win 50 to 12.  Awards Charlotte, Jayda and Kobe.

B Res

Great game from the B Res team today!! Working well together throughout the game and keeping the pressure on. Awards Zoe Benfield (Arc Espresso) and Ebony Bull Russell (Bean & Gone).

What a win! The girls really dug deep all day starting very strong in the first quarter however dropping off a bit in the second quarter.  We never dropped our heads and backed each other all the way until the final whistle it was a real team effort.  Very exciting for the girls knocking off the experienced undefeated top of the ladder Murrabit! Awards went to Zoe Benfield and Emily Edwards.

Murrabit is definitely the team to beat this year and they showed why today.  We had patches of great play and we kept ourselves within striking distance but in the end, they run away with it.

Today is our last home game and we welcome back premiership players from both the netball court and football oval.  It will be great to catch up.
