Round 10 News

All the best to Alana Barrer who recently underwent surgery on her ACL injury that she suffered early in the season. Hopefully you can have a speedy recovery Alana and will be back on the court for season 2023!

Kicking the dew off the grass at Nullawil, our Under 14 footballers continued their dominant season to date with a strong nine goal win. It’s hard to keep the smile off Coach Chum’s face as the young boys continue to play very impressive team footy, winning plenty of 1 on 1 contests and moving the ball across the ground very cleanly. Plenty of our senior boys (this author included) could learn a bit. A good spread of boys found their way onto the scoreboard led by Laing & Charlie, while Seth Rowe managed to kick as many goals as his dad this week! Scratcher Jnr continued to dominate at the other end of the ground before continuing his form in the U/17’s that followed.

Speaking of the Under 17’s, Nugget was looking to bring some professionalism to the coaches box by running with the polo, slacks and RM Williams (knock-offs) set up. Word has it that Ziggy & Dicko might be doing the same this week, be big fines coming their way if that’s the case.

Social Club Update

Onto the important news around the footy club, the upcoming social events. It’s a busy time on the social calendar with back-to-back home games coming up followed by several other big events including the club Ball and Wandella Cup.

The Goods & Services Auction follows this week’s game with dinner supplied by our junior footballers. Nugget & Chum have something delicious planned no doubt, I just hope they leave some for the rest of us. There is always plenty of great items up for sale in the auction, including about 75 dressed lambs! While I’m sure Bigsy Gray is looking to add to the four golf days he bought at last year’s auction…

Our Reunion night is the week after (after we take on Murrabit) with plenty of premierships to celebrate from the 0, 1 & 2 years. Apparently, there might be another milestone to celebrate that night too but I haven’t heard much about it yet…

This week is Indigenous Round against Macorna which has become a great tradition between the two clubs. The pre-game celebrations are always a great spectacle while it will be great to see all the indigenous club apparel out once again both on and off the field. Hopefully a huge crowd will be out there for a great day, especially with grades across both footy & netball fighting for spots in the top 4. Good luck to all teams.
