Ultima FNC Record Notes

Macorna turned on the weather for us a couple of weeks ago and we came away with a mixed bag of results across all grades of netball and football. In saying that, results aren’t the be all and end all as from what I could see wondering around was plenty of happy, engaged committed Ultima members.  It is great to have you all on board.  

Football:

 Under 14.5’s

This was a very even contest with the exception of 4 minutes of football played by Macorna where they kicked 4 straight goals.  Our boys matched it with them for the other 44 minutes of the game and will be ready for them next time from the first bounce.

Best players:  Blake Condely, Charlie Farrell, Rory Bell, Sam Miller, Riley Hender, Jack Webb

Under 17.5’s

Another cracking game from our thirds against a very talented opposition.  Some great football was played by both teams and we fought hard to be on top at the end of the day.  A huge shout out must go to Quinny and Shoppy again for the effort they put in in the thirds and to then back it up in the seniors can not be understated.  Thanks again boys.

Reserves:

A few more new faces this week in the 2^nd’s and the boys knocked of Macorna who were sitting equal 2^nd on the ladder.  We are only 1 game and percentage out of the finals race with 6 games to go so don’t book your September holiday just yet boys….. The footy that you boys are playing has proven to match it and beat team above you.  Keep it up.

Seniors:

We started well and were within a couple of goals at half time which was promising.  The third quarter was a struggle for us and Macorna skipped away but we got back on track in the last.  Unfortunately, the damage had been done on the scoreboard and we were down a couple in the rotations with some injuries to key players.  Still plenty of positives to come out of it men… Especially Jackos goal from the boundary.

Netball:

U12s

The girls had a great game today, coming away with another win! Big thanks to Charli Shadbolt for filling in for us today! Awards to Macklyn, Mayla and Ivy.

U14s

Ultima 55 def Macorna 43

Great to see sisters working well together with Indi & Scarlet in goals and Madi & Milla in defence.  Ella & Little Polky were solid through the mid court.  And special mention to Ivy & Macklin for filling in. All players received a Macca’s award to use in the holidays!

U17s

Ultima 33 def Macorna 30

Against a strong opposition the Ultima team played consistently for the first three quarters to stay in touch with Macorna.  A brilliant final quarter allowed them to break away for solid win.  Awards to Emily, Jayda, Isis and Amelie.

B Res

Ultima 32 def Macorna 26

After the second quarter B Res found their feet and put the pressure on.  Working together as a team in the last half game they kept in front until the end.  Awards to Elly Devereux and Millie Hinton.

B Grade

Not the best day with too many turn overs and silly mistakes.  There were glimpses of good plays and we have a good foundation to work on! Award to Chaz Del.

A Grade

4^th v 5^th on the ladder with both teams fighting for the last spot in finals.  Our defenders stood up and gave our attackers every opportunity but it wasn’t to be.  There is still plenty of rounds to go and we back ourselves to finish strong so don’t count us out just yet!  Awards to Brass and Lou for their consistency and fight all game.

Today we are at home against Hay and don’t forget that it is ladies’ day.  We welcome our Hay friends and look forward to competitive games across the board, just as long as we are up at the final siren : )
