A Grade
Quambatook 61 Defeated Hay 33
The Hay girls had a great match up against the Quambatook 3rd placed side, improving significantly on their first-round encounter. Ruby Cattanach (Ian Bunyan Plumbing Players Player Award) worked hard to get & maintain her position in attack against a strong defence, communicating well with WA & C in the circle & GS. Lani Houston (South Hay Hotel Award) gained good centre pass possession & used her versatility to fill gaps in WD & GD when Emma Johnston was injured. Katie Howard (L Houston Coaches Award) played a great game on C feeding well into the circle, also playing with an injury. Hay girls closed the margin considerably, again with the score did not reflect the intensity of the match. Credit to junior players Emma, Ruby & Katie who demonstrated their grit & improvement at the A Grade level. The final score was Quambatook 61 – Hay 33. Hay looks forward to the second round match up against Ultima next game.
B Grade
Quambatook 67 Defeated Hay 38
Hay started out strong in the 1st quarter this week, meeting the goal they had set. It was goal for goal, with Quambatook getting a few turn overs in the last minutes of the quarter to lead by 5. In the 2nd & 3rd quarter Quambatook really broke away, and Hay wasn’t able to rein them back in. In the 4th quarter, Hay rallied matching Quambatook’s 9 goals. Dim Comb (Hannah McGufficke Hairdressing Award Player’s Player) was an absolute workhorse in defence. Up against the GS, who was a good head taller, Dim worked fabulously making her opponent work for every goal. Cas Tidey (Hay Bowling & Golf Club & Coaches Award) continues to improve every week taking on the advice she receives. Cas makes her opposition work hard for every ball & worked well getting the ball out of defence, through the middle to the attackers. It was a great game to watch, however the final score did not reflect the contest. With Quambatook 67 – Hay 38.
B Reserve

With a clear plan & strategy implemented across the full game, working well as reflected in the final score. Kate Digby (IGA & Player’s Player Award) Kate had a great game in WD showing pure grit & determination, with continued improvement weekly. Emily Armstrong (Tantrum Hair & Beaty Award) Emily worked well, running in with a quarter in WD and 2 quarters in C.
