ROUND 8 Versus Tyntynder-Sat May 28th 2022
Whilst our seniors had a good win- it came at a mighty cost of our coach Brent breaking his fibula. We wish him all the best in his recovery, as we do with Sam Dunstan, Brady Fordham and Jack Shannahan.
NETBALL
A Grade had a convincing win over Tyntynder. 79-42 Coach Vicki said the girls played with high intensity for 4 quarters. Best Players- Alicia “Pickles”Harvey for her defensive pressure and Kellie “Kath Day Knight” Walker for her strong hands in goals. Defence worked hard with Laura Fay stepping up with Claire Allen out with injury.
A Res won 47-33. We went in with a different line up which demonstrates versatility. Well done to Neveah Roberts played in goals. Tamara player a strong defensive game in WD and Emily Bookham had a consistent 4 quarters in defence. BOC-Emily Bookham and Tamara Weiss,
B Grade won 62-12 in a very strong game. Coach Deb said we worked the ball well down the court with strong leads and great timing. At times we slowed the pace and found space. BOC Lauren Martin & Dee Wiseman.
B Res were beaten 35-20. Coach Jo & Anna said throughout the game we never dropped our heads and it was pleasing that our 4th quarter was our strongest-hopefully we can take this into next week. We welcomed a new player Jacinda Croft into the side. She hasn’t played netball for a long while but that is the beauty of B Res. Aceia Brennan won the award.
U 18’s lost 34-47. Coach Emelia said we had some good passages of play but just not consistent enough. Looking to train hard and improve for next week. BOC-Caitlin McKissack and Sam Mullans.
Under 16’s won 62-41. Coach Jess said that BOC were Maisy Manuel in WD and Madi LeGuir in WA. Jess said our ball movement, drive down the court and strong voices were really important in our win.
Under 14’s lost 50-16 Coach Deb was rapt with our first quarter. They pushed a very tough opposition and stayed with them. The girls were positive and encouraged each other all day. BOC Ava McCoombe, Ryley Fogarty.
Under 12’s had another very tough game 53-3 but kept up their fighting spirit until the end. Coach Loz said the girls are improving every week and have such a love for the game.BOC Sabrina Vanezula and Ava Bissett.
FOOTBALL:
Our seniors won by 40 points 82-42.
Best players were: Harry Allen, Tom McGregor, Ayden Tessari, Cal Dickinson, Angus McKenzie, Darcy McGregor
Coach Haz said that it was a great 4 quarter performance where everyone played their role. Another blow to the injury front with Brent breaking his leg and Shotsy’s calf breaking down but despite that, the boys fought on and played a solid brand of footy on short rotations. Special mention to Tom McGregor who was super in defence on Jason Eagle.
Our Reserves had a tough day at the office losing 95-43. Award winners were: Cayden O’Meara, Logan Nalder, Josh Butcher, Aaron Gaut, Ethan Alexander
Our Colts won 71-34 with top performers being Jonah Devlin, Oscar Holland, Corey Williams, Vaughn O’Bree Billy O’Meara and Harry McGregor.
Coach Shotsy said this was our best team performance for the year. Everyone contributed and played their role very well. There were a handful of players who had their best game and just keep getting better every week. It was a very good win against a team that is around us on the ladder.
In the Under14.5’s we lost 21-50. Best Players: Charlie Kingwill Max Leguier, Holland Harper, Vaughn O’Bree, Blake Wright, Louie Scott, Kade Wells, Chase Worner,
Under 12’s. Coach Craige said with a few boys out sick we just had enough players to put up a solid effort against strong opposition. Despite everyone trying their best the Eagles went down to the Dogs 13-34. Best players: Hamish Credlin, Aiden Kennedy, Angus Bissett, Tony Fishwick, Mason Day Henry, Oscar Kingwill, Kel Parsons, Saxon O’Meara.
