Bloody hell another dismal day for the Seniors, a walkover for the Ressy’s and another excellent win for the Colts, so a mixed bag again!. Apart from the Seniors you could say we are well and truly kicking goals on and off the field so hopefully the Seniors will join the party this weekend. Cool conditions prevailed on the day and with a few people away our manpower was stretched to the limit. The social committee were on song again with their progressive dinner event, a very good roll up with some very tacky tourists in tow, some of them would have no hope of being allowed into another country the way they were dressed!. Many thanks to the people that played hosts for the night, Saunders family & Joy Maffescioni’s house for entree, then off to the President’s private penthouse and the Frankling getaway resort for the mains which was Italian food, last but not least the Raiders Central hub for sweets where the night continued to roll on. So well done to the Social committee on another well organised function. Okay onto the footy, not a lot of joy come out of the Senior game again, thought we were a chance against the city slickers in Swan Hill but it was not to be!. So onto the awards, Max Baldissera (Raiders Man of the Day), Paddy Goble (Royal Hotel Barham), Jack Thrum (Barham Hotel), and Col Mc Veigh (Nthn Tree Fellas), others to play well were Jack Shannon and Kye Attwell.
No game for the Reserves due to Swan Hill forfeiting, word was that their team was ravaged with Covid so probably a good thing they didn’t play!.
The Colts continued on their merry way jagging another win, they continue to play very good footy as a team and will need to keep that going with some tough games looming in the next few weeks. As I have said before if you want to see the future talent of the Raiders FC do yourself a favour and have a look at these kids!.
Awards went to Eli Boyd (Royal Hotel Barham, Angus Laskowski (Don Taylor Pen), Ryan Bassett (Lane’s Electrical Socks), Will Lake (Wilma Bott Canteen Award), Coaches Award went to two players, Trinity Starr and Luke Khamlek, and the Intersport Echuca award went to Josh Mc Mahon.
Off to Nyah this weekend, I reckon with a new coach in Darren Troy who has played top class football in his career hopefully we can jag a win for him. In that regard the Koondrook Barham FNC welcome Darren and his family to the club and hope he enjoys his stay with us.
Some of those "dissent" decisions in the AFL last weekend just goes to show how moronic that rule is, get rid of them please!.
