U12’s
Great teamwork by all the girls winning 26-6. They are putting into practice what they are learning at training. There were some great passages of play. Awards went to Tara Free for fantastic passing into the ring and intercepts all down the court and Belle Lovell for her defensive work in the ring.
U14’s
The girls are gelling well together and played another great team game with everyone working to achieve a goal they set for themselves. Awards went to Janke and Ava who were everywhere, picking up loose balls and providing strong drives and direction on the court. Special mention to Ava who then backed it up and played again, this time her first A grade game at 13 years of age. An amazing achievement!
U16’s
Good battle for the girls playing against Lalbert. They started out strong but Lalbert managed to extend their lead to win by the final quarter. The girls in defence played an outstanding game, working on feedback from training which is great to see. A special thanks to Tess Demaria for helping the girls on Thursday night. Awards went to Giaan Delmenico, Dekoda Barber and Deja Stacey for working so well together as a team in the defensive end.
U18’s
The U18 girls secured their 1st win against strong competition. Match ups were crucial which led to a number of changes throughout the game and everyone adjusted promptly. Exciting things ahead for these girls. Best players went to Olivia free and Eva Bolton.
B res
Bres brought home another win however this week with a rocky start but managed to get up on the Eagles by half time. With 3 players out this week we relied very heavily on 2 juniors to step up and take the court. Charlie Lovell played a strong 3 quarters in our mid court with some great leads. Chloe Twentyman was an absolute super star on the court today with take owner ship over the ring and winner our best on ground. Our other best on for the second week in a row was Lily Chaproniere for their strong leads, never ending hard work on the court and positive attitudes throughout the game. BRes were happy with another week and keen to get into training next week.
B grade
The B Grade played top of the tables Mallee Eagles side on their turf.. Mallee Eagles got the jump and led by 9 at quarter time, increasing the lead to 14 at half time. The tigers regrouped, made a couple of changes and decided that they would improve the 1% fundamentals and do their best to chip away. We ended up coming 2nd by 13 goals but proved to ourselves that we could do it. Best players: Toni Boulton and Jacinta Siciliano
A res
Our first loss of the season and a hard game, although positive one it was. Excusing the score, the girls played a fantastic game with lots of great skills and plays down the court from the first quarter right until the last. I commend the girls on a fantastic team effort with praise and support by one another all the way through. Today we had 4 of our key squad players away and 5 great girls to come up and help fill gaps! We look ahead into the season with many positives that have been shown since round 1 to build on.
A grade
A grade came back after a week off to a tough battle against Mallee Eagles! In the end the girls went down by 22, however the intensity of the game and how well the girls played was not reflected by the score! The game saw the return of 2 Woorinen legends, Amy Cadd and Chelsea Bird, both of which looked like they had not missed a game and slotted into the line-up perfectly. As well as this, born and bred Woorinen youngster Ava Crow made her A grade debut at the age of just 13. With an amazing debut, it is so exciting to see what she will do going forward as she continues to develop into an incredible netballer for the Tiges. Best on court again was Tessa Demaria who’s determination and effort on the court goes unmatched. Tess put in 100% effort in the defensive ring and created a lot of opportunities for Woora to score! Coaches award went to young gun Zoe Steicke who each week is proving herself as a strong senior player. Zoe controlled the goal ring, setting herself up in beautiful positions and shooting with great accuracy. Across the court the girls gave their all and look forward to building on the many positives that came out of the game.
Girls Football
A massive day for Girls football on Sunday, starting off with the kick off of the new local under 14s competition, our girls put in a great effort punching above their weight division.
The 14s was followed by the first game of the season for the Youth Girls team, who kicked off the season with a classy 39 point victory over Golden Square. Great performances from Em Ward, Sam Johnston and boom recruit Issy Boulton steered them home, the girls are flying at the moment!
Under 12's
The under 12’s had a solid showing against the Mallee Eagles. The eagles players were very skilful and fast and full credit to our players who really pressured them from the first bounce. Our tackling was excellent and we worked hard on our one on one skills and I thought we improved on that so well done to all. Our best player was Luca Zucco who made great decisions and real leadership. Other best players were Zac Charles, Maurice Day, Shane Ayars, and Jaan Beasley. Good luck against Lake Boga today who are a really strong junior outfit! Keep learning and loving the game of aussie rules! GO TIGERS!
Under 14.5
Tough day against Mallee Eagles last week, however the boys finished the game strongly in the second half and showed great link up and run out of the half back line. Best players were Hudson Garner, Blake Mazzerella, Elwood Stacey, Shaun Kirby, Jack Keegan, Knox Jennings
Colts
Unfortunately the boys couldn’t get the job done on the weekend, with a slow start in the first half allowed Mallee Eagle to hit the scoreboard first and open up a significant lead. The boys battle hard all day and didn’t give up. Tahj Bolton was the pick of the players and worked from end to end taking a lot of marks and rebounding the ball. Other better players were, Xavier Johnson, Oscar Thornton, Jye Hogan, Lachlan Bedggood & Rayden Garner. We turn our eyes to this week which will be tough ask against a strong Lake Boga side.
Reserves
After a bit of a slow start the boys kicked into gear after ½ time and were able to come away with a good strong win. TJ Beasy was on fire with 4 goals and he was supported by Skidda and Adam Hendy. Best players: TJ, Coddo, Hubba, Ayarsy, Nugget & Kruges.
This week will be another test for the reserves boys coming up against the top of the ladder Lake Boga side.
Seniors
The senior boys bounced back on the weekend against Mallee Eagles out at Lalbert. It was a great team effort all round from our youngsters, to our new recruits as well as the veterans pulling on the boots again. Big Arny controlled the game again and continued to give our mids first use. Newcomer Dyl Collis was all class and Clayto and Xav were dangerous in front of the big sticks. Hopefully the boys can take some form heading into this week’s danger game against Lake Boga.
