The club had a very successful Anzac Eve game against Lake Boga with a big crowd in attendance. Thank you to the Central Murray league and Lake Boga FNC for allowing the game to be played and also to our great band of volunteers who helped with the day.
Today we welcome Cohuna Kangas and look forward to some great matches on the court and field. To last week’s results:
Netball
The U12 girls started the day against a strong Lake Boga side but couldn’t get over the line. Best players Indie McIntyre and Miela Roberts. The U14s also tried hard but were no match in the end against the Magpies. Better players were the Pearson sisters Milla and Brooke. It was a nail biter in the U16s with only one goal separating the 2 sides at the end of the match with unfortunately the young Swans going down by a goal. Award winners were Jaya Jenkins-Jaiswal (218) and Grace Doherty (Club). It was a high quality game in the U18 match with Boga once again coming out the victors. Award winners for the Swans were Charlotte Angus (Beauty Spot) and Ella Vroljiks (Pearson award). B Res welcomed some old faces back in the side with great effect as the Swans had a big win over the Magpies. Award winners for the Swans were Chloe Ryan and Kat Baulch. B Grade also had a close game and came away with a good 5 goal win. Award winners were Rom Kennedy (Swan Bucks) and Sophie Reed (Paper Scissors Rock). A Res continued on their winning way with a few changes to the side. Better players were Hayley Neushafer (Beauty Spot) and Renee Isma (ARC). The A Grade game was an exhilarating game of netball to watch and in the end it was fitting the 2 sides finished level on 51 goals a piece so theu shared the Anzac trophy. Better players for the Swans in a good team effort were Greta Sheldrick (Aspire) and Mollie Quin (Swanbucks)
Football
The U12s put it al together on the Tyntynder oval a bit later than normal and enjoyed the conditions teaming well across the whole field to have a good win against the Magpies. The U14.5 also continued their unbeaten run with a nice win against strong opposition in Lake Boga. The boys will be hoping to continue on their winning way today. Best players for the Swans were Bodhi Kelly, Lachy Vroljiks, Sonny Beasy, Darcy Uebergang, Lane Cardenas and Jack Brown. The colts game was one of the most enjoyable to watch on the day. With the Swans undermanned and with 6-7 players doubling up from the U14.5 they took it up to the league leader with at one stage being 20 points up. They eventually were over run but was a great performance from the young Swans. Best players were Pat Blake, Conner Arif, Jem Sibley, Sonny Beasy and Will Bennett. The reserves were no match in the end for Boga but will continue to get to training and the wins will come. Best players Jack Charleson, Brad Williamson, Darcy Conway, Matt Pearse, Darby Meney and Will Burns. The senior game was a great spectacle and was close to the third quarter when Boga kicked away. Angus Monfries proved the difference with 11 goals to take home the medal. Even harder today against the Kangas who look the goods but we will be trying hard to get the upset win on our home ground. Best players were Toby Thoolen, Tom Spicer, Matt Wade, Hamish Robertson, Jarvis Keogh and Darcy Ryan.
