Football Round 3 vs Woorinen

We hit the highway a couple of weeks ago up to Woorinen to take on our old rivals the Tigers on a pretty good day for footy after the very welcome rain.

On a very sad note, the Club sends our condolences to Helen, Belinda and Michelle and the Murphy and Credlin families on the loss of Kevin. Rest in peace mate.

Seniors

The atmosphere in the rooms pre game was fantastic, and once again the boys hit the ground running; in an awesome first quarter we slammed on 7 goals while keeping the Tigers goalless, to set up the game in our favour. The boys continued to play some outstanding football and in the end came away with a big 68 point win in a great team performance. Coatesy and Duck were among the goals again while Woody brought his own footy and played a cracking game to win the Queens Arms voucher. Best players: Ryan Gillingham, Lachie Ross, Marty Kelly, Brad Pay, Sam Heavyside and Bryce Curnow. Queen’s Arms Voucher: Ryan Gillingham. Exchange Hotel Awards:

5 Ryan Gillingham, 4 Lachie Ross, 3 Marty Kelly, 2 Brad Pay, 1 Sam Heavyside.

Today we host the unbeaten Mallee Eagles, another big test the boys are looking forward to.

Reserves

Well, the main event starts at 2.30 nut what an appetiser we saw with the Magoos. They attacked the ball and ran as hard as they have for a very long time. It's been a while since we defeated the Woorinen 2's - a great team performance. We're only 3 rounds into a long season, lets hope we can keep gelling and improving. Better players - Cody Tuohey who had it on a string, with Josh Hunter at CHB rebounding well and punching when he had to. Sammy Nitshke also had a ripper in the ruck and also around the ground. Kel Adams in his first game this year played a beauty also rebounding out of defence with his dash and strength on display. Ethan McKnight ran hard going forward and his kicking for goal is improving, while Tom Meehan at CHF led up the ground and marked well a number of times and looked to kick to advantage.

Overall a great effort and a 57 point win but as they say one week doesn't make the year - we have a long season ahead and many such efforts will be needed. Mallee Eagles up next after the bye so let's be ready to go.

Go Blues!!!!

PS: I know the late Kevin Murphy would be really happy with the win. RIP Murph..
