Thanks to Mallee Eagles for hosting us last round at Lalbert. There were some great games on the court and field.
We are excited to host Lake Boga this round for our standalone Sunday Anzac game. A ceremony to honour the Anzacs will take place today before an exciting game of senior football. Anzac trophies will be awarded to the winning team in A Grade netball and senior football. We will also be hosting our annual “Parents Day” today where all of our players parents, grandparents, guardian and carers are invited to come together in the SHFNC marquee and enjoy each other’s company.
To last week’s results:
Netball
The U12 team played another good game against the Eagles and got over the line 17-8. The young Swans are showing a lot of promise. Award winners Milla Parkinson (Pearson award) and Indiana Hall (Quin award). The U14 came up against a strong Eagles line up and went down 17-27. Better players were Sarah Vroljiks (Canteen) and Milli Lawry (Pizza Kitchen). The U16 team played a great game of team netball and had a good win against the Eagles. Award winners for the Swans were Grace Doherty (SHFNC) and Maggie Meney (Pearson award). The U18 game was a great game of netball and went down to the last minute with the Swans winning by 2 goals. Award winners Maeve Sheldrick (218) and Tess Meney (ARC voucher). B reserve brought in some old faces and turned back the clock to win convincingly over the Eagles. B Grade battled hard but went down in the end by 8 goals and in the A Reserve it was a real nail biter with Eagles prevailing in the end by a solitary goal. A grade played their first game of the year and hit the ground running winning by 12 goals. Always hard against Boga today.
Football
The U12s started slowly but picked up the pace in the second half to record a hard fought win over the Eagles. The U14.5 played another good game and a good brand of football to score a comfortable win. Award winners for the Swans were Sonny Beasy, Hugh Langley-Sheldrick, Cody McIntyre, Lachlan Vroljiks, Darcy Uebergang, and Bodhu Kelly. The colts had a win! In a great result for the young colts who have battled away with limited numbers scored a nice victory against the Eagles. Thanks to Woorinen players and U14.5 players who helped out to field a side. Better players were Connor Arif, Jude Seymour, Wil Bennett, Sonny Beasy, Lachlan Vroljiks and Jem Sibley. The reserves were a little undermanned but had their chances to win but couldn’t get over the line. They will be hoping for a big showing against Boga today. Award winners Brad Williamson, Matt Pearse, Jack Fletcher, Josh Brooks, Mac Kelly and Riley Brennan. The senior game was a good game of footy with the margin being 2 goals all day which was the margin the Eagles were up at the last siren. Congrats to Buol Majur who played hist first senior game and kicked a great goal and played well. Should be a great game against Boga where the Swans will be hoping to have their first win for the season.
